A colleague of mine shared this infographic with me: Envisioning the Future of Education, presented by Envisioning.io (or envisioningtech.com). One thing that I take away from this vision of the future of education is not all of the fancy technology (although that is obviously the point of the graphic), but rather that we’re seeing a shift away from the standardized, industrialized approach to education.
In the past 150 years, our education system moved away from personalized instruction to a generalized instruction process where everyone learns the exact same thing in the exact same way. I believe that we are starting to learn that this is a rather ineffective method of education, and are trying to figure out how we can get back to our personalized instruction approach without disrupting our societal/cultural norms and expectations too much.
This is where the technology comes in. Since it will be hard to return to a true master & apprenticeship style of education with our population and culture the way it is, technology is being created to learn how to tailor education to the student dynamically and individually, rather than forcing the student to learn in ways that are ineffective for them.
Take a look at the image, either at the link above, or embedded below, and let me know what you think. Do you think this paints a realistic picture of future schools?

Thanks for sharing this post. I found it very useful and informative, it is so true that the use of technology in teaching can be very helpful. And students will be very active with the use of computer or tablet inside the classroom, and they can also interact with their classmates if they missed their classes for a day can share with them the lessons for the day. If this will be implemented in all schools I think learning will be easier.
