Summary

Well, that’s it! You’re now equipped to create some pretty powerful presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint! While there’s still much more to learn, these three little tricks can improve the quality and/or interactivity of your PowerPoint files. So if you’re still using PowerPoint as a glorified chalkboard, you can’t blame me!

Evaluation

Participants in the WebQuest will be evaluated on their success in implementing the three new tasks in their PowerPoint file. The rubric below outlines the criteria by which the PowerPoint will be evaluated.

YouTube Video embedding No video was successfully embedded into the presentation file. Some video was embedded or linked, but does not appear to be from YouTube, or is not appropriate to the content. An appropriate YouTube video was successfully downloaded, but was linked to instead of embedded. An appropriate YouTube video was successfully downloaded and embedded properly in the presentation file.
Motion path animation No animations were used, or standard animations detracted from the point of the slide. Standard animations were used instead of Motion Paths, and/or did not emphasize the point of the slide. Standard Motion Path animations (not Custom) were used to emphasize the point of the slide. Custom Motion Path animations were used to great effect to emphasize the point/purpose of the slide.
Linked Slides Slides were not hyperlinked to each other, or hyperlinked slides confused the viewer rather than enhanced the experience. Slides had at least 1 hyperlink to another slide, but was ineffective in its use due to errors or lack of interactivity. Slides had hyperlinks to other slides, but did not enhance the interactivity of the presentation. Slides had effective hyperlinks to other slides that created an interactive experience.
Mechanics & Design Presentation file included little to no graphic enhancements, or included many grammatical and/or spelling errors. Presentation file included distracting graphic design that detracted from the topic and/or included >3 grammatical or spelling errors. Presentation file included attractive graphic design and/or included 1-3 minor grammatical or spelling errors. Presentation file included attractive graphic design that enhanced the topic and included no grammatical or spelling errors.
